In Painted Toes, poet Corrine Panisi provides a literary soft shoulder only a mother can provide for her children. Her shoulder hides many colors and images that are drawn on to create her poems in this 100+ page, illustrated book.
Colors is a great example of Panisi s ability to paint with words. The poet takes emotions and aspects of her life and applies a color that seems to suit it. She writes: My thoughts, your prayers definitely cream colored clouds!
This vivid, colorful imagery continues in Earth Angel where she speaks of a special angel sent to earth to absorb her pain. She refers to My own angel covered in a chocolate sweatsuit, the same color as dirt here on earth.
In Her, we meet a special woman, through the eyes of a poet. This lady is the kind of woman most of us would like to know in person, especially as Panisi describes her. This woman wasn not afraid to rock a skirt. She is the type you make a u-turn for. Wouldn't you like to have someone like this in your life? Panisi entices the reader even more by telling him that this dream woman could cite NBA stats, as well as write poetry. And she ironed without static.
The poems are reflective and thoughtful as in Learn: I was born in San Francisco in the heart of wealth and poverty. I had to learn that where you come from is a part of who you become. She adds the rueful contemplation: I wasn't taught to leave. I was shown. Many of this word-master's thoughts are ones the reader can identify with and take in as their own.
Relationships, family and love interests, are a theme in which most readers will relate. In Possession, Corrine explains, I wore you like a pair of my favorite jeans. Now, I m loose in the seams. Don't fit me too tight anymore.
Painted Toes is the style of book you will curl up with as you sip a cup of tea...and perhaps, paint your own toes. Corrine Panisi has dedicated Painted Toes to her daughter, Daijna and to her niece, Tatiana. Their photos appear on the opening pages.

Daijha could never get enough of them. She just brightens up every time she sees the cover. Mommy am I famous like you? she asks. It is the cutest thing. --Daijha
There are poems within Corrine's book Painted Toes that are farever etched in my mind. Her poetry is the type that makes a difference in how you see things once you have read what she sees in something. Making a difference in how the world is painted in our minds is awesome. --Entry Way Marketing
