Part IV shows how with progressive leadership and a new measure and science of global healing we can prevent the return---otherwise potentially much worse next time---of what like the spread of a deadly illness periodically seizes whole nations to block and drive us backward in evolution.

Director of research and author of the report, psychologist and pioneering evolutionary systems scientist David Loye, is the former Research Director for the Program on Psychosocial Adaptation and the Future, Neuropsychiatric Institute, UCLA School of Medicine. A co-founder of two multinational advanced evolution research groups, Dr.Loye is the author of The Healing of a Nation, awarded the same national award earlier given to the famous Swedish economist Gunnar Myrdal for the social scientific classic An American Dilemma.

We're publishing this special 2008 edition of Bankrolling Evolution to put the power of progressive science and progressive spirituality behind a healing presidency, and because of evidence that Senator Barack Obama offers what human evolution requires of America at this juncture. This is the first of six books we're publishing to honor the 200th Anniversary of Darwin's birth in 2009 with the startling new picture emerging of Darwin as healing visionary.

At the core is the story of the development and pilot testing of Bush policies with a new measure of global health and wellbeing that provides a way of gauging the degree to which we are moving forward, being checked in place, or are being shoved backward on fifteen basic indicators of evolution.
Policies prevailing for America during the Bush years were selected for a pilot study of the new measure--and instead of backward movement just on indicators of political corruption and environmental devastation, the pilot test showed a backward impact for Bush policies on all fifteen indicators.
With the same regressive forces that put Bush in place behind McCain, the case for the kind of healing presidency offered by Senator Obama is scientifically and socially overwhelming.
