Born in Belgrade Serbia, street photographer Boogie possesses a rare talent for documenting the human condition. His black and white photographs capture the character and the inhabitants of some of the most tumultuous cities in the world. Traditionally photojournalism focuses more on content--recording a moment or an event-- and less upon formal concerns. However, Boogie gracefully integrates both a documentarian's eye with a finely honed artistic sensibility. Many of his images are at once deeply poignant, and totally unsettling. Boogies work has taken him from Serbia, to Cuba and throughout South America. Sao Paulo features his remarkable impressions from one of Brazil's poorest and most troubled urban metropolises.

Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Very good +. First printing. Unpaginated. Oblong sextodecimo. [15 cm]. Matte pictorial paper over boards. Corners bumped, spine ever so slightly rolled. Some light scuffing to head and tail of spine. "All photos were taken in one week in June 2007" -from the dedication page. This is a scarce first printing of his book of photographs capturing the poverty of São Paulo. Documentary style street photographer Vladimir Milivojevich, known by his artist name Boogie, was born in Serbia and won a lottery for citizenship in the United States in 1997. Pulling from his experience photographing the fringe society of war-torn Belgrade in the early 1990s, Boogie made his name as a street photographer in New York at the turn of the century. He is known for blending photojournalistic documentarianism with his keen artist's eye for the gritty and surreal. Seller Inventory # 63450
