About the Author:

Tony Boyle grew up on a sheep and cattle farm on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. He received the greater part of his education from the Christian Brothers schools in Adelaide, Christian Brothers College and Rostrevor College. He came back to the island for his final year and attended the Parndana Area School where his mother was a primary school teacher. After several years of working the farm, he sold out and moved to Sydney to pursue a career in the entertainment industry as a writer and actor. He had small roles in Australian television series, appeared in many commercials and free-lanced as a writer of promotional, training and industrial scripts for various clients. In 1986, Tony opened his own production house on Blue s Point Road, North Sydney, produced videos for corporate clients and spent time in Africa and Central Asia filming documentaries for a refugee NGO. He moved to the United States in 1990 where he worked in theater, television drama, commercials and numerous corporate productions as a producer, writer and actor. He has written several movie scripts including the recently finished Death in Time, a science fiction, psychological thriller set in Chicago and Cancun, and Chrysalis, a family drama with a spiritual theme set in South Boston. Beyond Passion is his debut novel. He is presently working on the screenplay adaptation and the second book of the trilogy, Under the Southern Cross. An Ageless Adventurer, Tony lives in Golden, Colorado and travels frequently with his wife, Kathy, to Kangaroo Island where they will soon begin construction on their island home.

Review:

Tony Boyle's love for Kangaroo Island, his early experiences as a wool and beef producer along with the real life issues and struggles of his family life, his father's alcoholism and mother's tragic death, inspired him to write "Beyond Passion." "Beyond Passion" captures the growing relationship of two young and vital characters with such depth and intensity that you feel as if their story is taking place in your own backyard...I couldn't wait to experience the unfolding of their story, but I was crestfallen when the book ended...Tony Boyle also sets a pace and creates an undercurrent of intrigue that reminds me of John Grisham at his best. --Mark Graham, critically acclaimed author of The Missing Sixth, The Harbinger, and The Fire Theft. Denver, Colorado.

There is something about Australian writers that allows them to create a fully dimensional picture of their subjects, the wild beauty of the country, the incredible tenacity and tenderness of their characters and the subtle depth of character it takes to survive and thrive in a sometimes hostile, often unforgiving life among gum trees, deserts, savage coastlines and often-distant neighbors. Mr. Boyle, in so aptly naming his novel, Beyond Passion, has this ability to place the reader squarely amongst his characters, putting them amongst the families and individuals who struggle so bravely to overcome the tests of life and pursue the pursuit of their own happiness. Not since The Thorn Birds and A Town like Alice have I enjoyed the color, scope and emotion of an Australian novel of such insight, pace and passion. --Leighton B Watts, Australian award winning poet, songwriter and singer, Sydney, Australia.

The debut novel, Beyond Passion by Australian Tony Boyle, is a magnificent work of art that captures the beauty of Kangaroo Island, a pristine environment off the coast of Australia...Tony captures the beauty of life s struggles, the passion of true love, the pain and agony every individual faces in their life and the raw choices one faces between love, life and death...His writing style is absolutely brilliant and the story will snare your heart...I wept like a child during a few of the heart wrenching scenes, but walked away invigorated when I read the last word of the last sentence. There are very few novels that provoke raw emotion on all levels. Beyond Passion achieves this on a grand scale. This is one novel every individual should experience, it is a special gift. --King Hurley, Author The Interview and Mondai Nai, Colorado, USA.
