Carl Booker was raised in San Antonio, TX. With a love for his community, he started his graphic design firm in 1993 called Avista Products. Over the years, Booker learned and experienced the challenges of running a small business. Surviving the internet bust and the downturn from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Booker recognized the key to success and survival was to establish strong relationships with his clientele. These relationships helped him to launch The Blackbook Directory and Yearbook in June 2011 to identify black businesses, document special events and highlight African Americans in the San Antonio community.
To compliment the directory, the website BlacksInSanAntonio.com was also launched with business listings, event coverage and free calendar postings of community events.
With over 1,400 business listings, industry profiles and the top ten events in the city, the Blackbook Directory and Yearbook is the No. 1 rated hardback book for African Americans in San Antonio. BlacksInSanAntonio.com is also the No. 1 website with an African American focus in South Texas.
