Newfoundland & Labrador Margaret High communicates in her own special style, the historical facts of her home province, and woven in such a poetic manner, that one begins to feel and live the events, as if one were right there. I highly recommend it to those Newfoundlanders that are away from home and to those who want to feel and live some of the history of Newfoundland without reading volumes of history books.

Born in Newfoundland Canada, and Coming from a background of un-educated parents, was very difficult for me. It hard for me to study, School work became harder for me. My parents couldn’t read bedtime stories or help with homework. Needless to say we had no books in our house other than school books; I fumbled through school as best as I could, reaching grade seven. I went to work at the early age of 15, although my family were not educated, they were hard working people a quality that I inherited proudly. I was in my forties, when my husband discovered that I had a talent for writing poetry. My co-workers would have me write poems for their occasions, or if they wanted to send a special message to loved ones. I have never taken a course, nor have I ever read poetry, reading books were not on my list of things to do, which I regret now, My friends love my poetry; they said that I have special gift, which it came naturally to me. I am proud to say that I self published my first book of poetry called Heartstrings ,winner of 2010 e-Lit Award from the Jenkins Group ,I have just finished my second book entitled , Newfoundland poetry interesting facts and me mudders old ditties and sayings . my next venture is to write a novel. For years I let my lack of education hinder me from fulfilling my dreams ,it’s a struggle for me , but with the help of my husband ,friends, and spell check ,I continue to write . I still haven’t read a novel, but I’ll be writing one. Life is such an awesome journey, doors are opening, and I’m walking through . www.margaretspoetrykorner.com
