As an African-American born with light skin, gray eyes and hair the color of goldfish, Natosha Smart Dooling struggled with bullying from the day she entered elementary school. The harassment that stemmed from being "different" chased her all the way into college and was especially painful because it came from people of her own race. Proving that the human spirit can always triumph, Natosha navigated through the trials and tribulations of her youth, going on to marry her high school sweetheart, NBA star Keyon Dooling. Even in the world of celebrities, Natosha faced stereotypes and expectations that needed to be defied daily. As her lifestyle changed, she tackled the challenges of frequent relocations, maintaining friendships and coping with the media. In the midst of it, she faced the loss of loved ones and a devastating miscarriage. My Eyes & My Hair, told in Natosha's own words, is her inspiring journey to self-acceptance, to embracing love, life and family and most important, to discovering the peace and empowerment that only comes from knowing God.

Natosha Dooling is not your typical 'NBA wife.' After marrying her high school sweetheart, Keyon Dooling of the Milwaukee Bucks, Natosha realized she had work to do if she wanted to dispel negative perceptions that can accompany that title. For Natosha this was nothing new she has fought against stereotypes and misperceptions virtually her entire life, beginning with the harassment and bullying she endured from classmates and others while growing up. What made her a target was something she had no control of as a child, her atypical African American looks: hazel eyes, fair skin and sandy blonde hair. With quiet determination and abiding faith, Natosha navigated the rocky road of her youth raised in a low-income Ft. Lauderdale, Florida neighborhood. Later, along with her affluent lifestyle upgrade as the spouse of a pro athlete came the challenges of frequent relocations, maintaining friendships and coping with unfavorable media scrutiny. In the midst of it, she faced the loss of loved ones and a devastating miscarriage. Her experiences led her to author her first book, My Eyes & My Hair: My Journey Overcoming Challenges of Daily Endeavors,an autobiography which strives to channel the challenges of her past into a positive story to motivate others. Told in Natosha's own words, "My Eyes & My Hair" is her inspiring journey to self-acceptance, embracing love, life and family, and most importantly, discovering the peace and empowerment that only comes from knowing God. In addition to being a new author, Natosha is the founder of N-Zone a charity to help provide college scholarships and develop character in disadvantaged young women through etiquette instruction, job training and college prep courses. Natosha is also CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Sportsality.com, a new online magazine for sports-related news and lifestyle information. In each of her projects, Natosha's goal is to "pay it forward" by helping others and to represent the positive attributes shared by many people associated with professional sports -- based on love, charity and values.
