This all-new, completely revised and updated Anniversary edition brings back the popular parents' resource guide that 10 years ago won national recognition for showing parents how to weed through confusing, over-hyped juvenile book merchandising and turn their children on to the very best in modern children's literature. Packed with more practical, easy to implement advice than ever, The New Magic Bookshelf offers resources including fully annotated book lists that help parents choose exciting and appealing books for their children's specific interests and needs, from picture books to quality series to nonfiction to young adult novels. Numerous special sections include "Book-Lovers From Babyhood," "Luring the Noninterested Reader and the Junk Book Junkie," and "If Your Child Does Not Live With You." Bonus sections include guides to literary award-winners, electronic media and Internet sites, children's book club and magazine info, and review sources for new books.
