About the Author:

John A. Warden III has extensive experience in management, strategy, planning, writing, and speaking in military, political, educational, and commercial enterprises. He is the founder and President of Venturist, Inc., a firm that developed and provides a future-oriented, systems approach to the creation and execution of winning strategies for organizations and individuals. His diverse background includes serving as the architect for the successful Gulf War air campaign, authoring the best selling book, The Air Campaign, heading the Air Force's Air Command and Staff College, and working as Special Assistant to the Vice President of the United States. His business strategy book, Winning in FastTime, is available on-line and in selected book stores. Career Highlights: Current (1995- present): John Warden is president of Venturist, Inc., a strategy development company whose American and international clients include Texas Instruments, Prudential Bank, North Shore Medical Center, Jay Cashman Construction, Schlumberger, The Bama Companies (2004 Baldrige Award Winner), McDonald s Corporation, City of Garland, Pfizer, Oryxe Energy, Oracle Packaging, AMD, Metro Tech Center, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, IMS, Northside Foods, and many others. Commandant of the Air Command and Staff College (1992-1995, Montgomery, Alabama): Prior to leaving the Air Force and launching Venturist, Inc., John Warden was the Commandant of the Air Command and Staff College, the Air Force's graduate-level school for mid-career Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine officers, as well as officers from over fifty different foreign countries. As Commandant, he revolutionized the curriculum and teaching methodology, introduced the concept of "top-down" learning, developed an integrated one-year curriculum, and made computers an essential part of student and faculty life. When he left, the school had the most intensive, most modern curriculum of any military school in the world and was a leader in American graduate-level education. The Air Command and Staff College received numerous accolades for its new curriculum and teaching methodologies, including the Fairchild Award and the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award. Special Assistant to the Vice President of the United States (1991-1992, Washington D.C.): As Special Assistant to the Vice President of the United States, he worked on improving American competitiveness, speeding commercialization of technology, and promoting "Quality" concepts inside and outside the Administration. He helped keep significant manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and was part of the process that led the President to direct elimination of several impediments to U.S. defense firm participation in the commercial market. He was co-author of the Vice President's Manufacturing Technology Initiative, approved by the Vice President and the Prime Minister of Japan in May 1992.
