Karen and Jeff Miller had the perfect life; a happy marriage, a young and precocious daughter, Chrissy, and a son on the way, and... they had just won a lottery. They bought their dream home; an early Twentieth Century Victorian located in a charming Northwest Florida town. Little did they know how much their quiet and perfect lives would change once they moved into their new home and their daughter met her new 'imaginary friend'. All children have imaginary friends - don't they?

About the Author:

Rickie Wood-Bovee is an avowed Readaholic. She has been reading non-stop since early childhood. At one point she read everything her local library had on ghosts and the supernatural. Rickie is an accomplished seamstress specializing in Victorian fashions. She is also a retired circus acrobat and when she is not writing, she spends her free time practicing her acrobatic skills and sewing new garments to add to her extensive Victorian collection. She is the mother of two daughters, Kari and Brenda and a grandmother of two, Dalton and Molly. she lives, with her husband, Jim, in rural Northwest florida just outside of DeFuniak Springs.

Review:

'Open Pond Ghost Stories' are the brainchild of author Rickie Wood-Bovee. Her first novel, 'Button Hook Child', opens this series of unusual ghost stories, taking place in and around the northern Florida town of DeFuniak Springs. The historical district of DeFuniak Springs includes homes built during the late 1800's, the Victorian era, most are large, grand structures with ornate decorations, large columns, front porches, hidden rooms, and historical tales. A few of these homes are rumored to be haunted. Wood-Bovee captures the spirit of this time period when she writes about a child, who is a ghost, and who remains captive inside one of these homes. This ghost story immediately brings on the feeling of living in a small town by being personally treated to the popular customs of the area, the hometown pride and comfort of neighbors, family love and warmth, all are captured in this spirited tale. Rickie Wood-Bovee is a well-known writer, director, former circus performer, and now is CEO of her own publishing company, Three Bars Publishing. Their first release was an autobiography, 'Come Walk With Me, Memoir of a Cold War Bride', by Aurelia "Goldie" Brigante. What many don't know is Rickie was actually the Ghost writer for Goldie, the story developed using handwritten notes and personal photos. Goldie only lived a short time after the publishing of her book, passing away just weeks after the release. Wood-Bovee's experience with capturing the imagination and hearts of her readers and audience is enormous. Adding credibility to her historical descriptions, Rickie, and her equally as talented husband, Jim, are popular Victorian Era fashion designers. Having actually visited the historic home of the 'Button Hook Child', it is the home pictured on the cover of this gorgeous book. I can attest, the description of the grandness and the unique attributes left from the Victorian era are accurate, the history is well preserved by the current owner and adds to what makes this story even more believable. Indeed, the feeling of being watched by someone, something in this home, is present. After reading the first page, I couldn't stop until the end of the book. The surprise ending caused me to think about this story for weeks after. Rickie Wood-Bovee plans to keep the ghost spirit alive in her series of 'Open Pond Ghost Stories'. Her next effort in this exciting series is 'Don't Move The Coat'. Quite frankly, I can't wait to read it! -- Dari Bradley, CEO, Patriot Media, Inc
