The Yachtsman's Guide to the Bahamas. The first and number one all time best selling all Bahamas Cruising Guide. This guide has been updated and re-printed every year since its inception in 1950 and has the distinction of being considered by the boating community the definitive Bahamas Cruising Guide for both novice and seasoned skipper alike planning to sail their vessel from the US across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas and beyond to the Turks & Caicos and Dominican Republic. The Guide begins with What the Skipper Should Know, where everything from anchoring, flag etiquette, communications, medical needs, rules and regulations and even trash disposal is addressed along with numerous other suggestions and tips to insure an enjoyable cruising experience. 65 pages later the section titled Approaches to the Bahamas contains seven tried and true courses from various ports in Florida, across the Stream to numerous Islands in the Bahamas Chain. From there the geographic sections follow and include sketch charts, Aerial and land based photos and suggestions on the approaches to areas and what you may expect to find on your arrival. These listings begin from the North and run South which is the way most Skippers cruise these waters, allowing for ease in finding the next port of call. The guide is very user friendly with a 6x9 page size and a spiral binding allowing flat, open lying pages for helm use while underway.

I run a Yacht towing and assist vessel for Bradford Marine, Bahamas. I use your Guide and others along with paper charts and a chart plotter. Day or Night I go thru many tight areas towing barges and other vessels. Your Guide is great reading on a tow at 5 kts. I've been reading it for twenty years. It's convient 6 x 9 size making for ideal underway helm use and the heavy duty binding insures durability. Detailed listings and contact information for Marinas cruising facilities is a plus! --Mike Stafford, Grand Bahama, Bahamas
I have used their Guide since 1976. It is indespensable. Since my last edition was 2000, I think it was time to replace it. --John Strickland
