About the Author

Susan C. Turner is an author and illustrator of children's books, most notably the Rufus Steele adventure series (Rufus Steele 1938, Rufus Steele 1940, Rufus Steele 1943) written for the middle grades and young adults. Her work engages children's timeless interests in outdoor adventure and the challenges of growing up. Her recent work, Small Black Boxes, is a tribute to the men and women who have died in service to their country, and most particularly, to their families. It is a touching reminder of the tolls of war. Her latest picture books include A Parcel of Penguins: A Book of Collective Nouns and Radishes and Noodles for pre-schoolers learning about food names and characteristics. In addition, she has begun a folk tale series under the name Eve Palmer. The first one is entitled The King's Flowers.
