Breaking the cycle of child abuse is quite literally a life and death proposition... Diana Joy had to find the strength inside herself to face her past so that she could break the cycle of pain for herself and for the children she is priviledged to help everyday in her home and through the Unseen Child Foundation. This amazing story of survival against overwhelming obstacles - both internal and external, physical and emotional - takes you into the world of a small child who is abused and crying out - although no one in her world was listening. The young Diana coped in the only way she could, by making an inner world where she was safe and understood. Diana describes in vivid detail the faces of her siblings and of herself in an attempt to educate those working with children to recognize the silent screams for attention, help and most of all understanding. Graced at an early age with an introduction to God, Diana was able to endure, grow, forgive and finally thrive as an adult. She drew from the strength of this unseen friend, God to help her through. If you are an unseen child, you re not alone. This book is intended to give you the tools to become seen. If you work with children, Diana s message will give you insights into the unseen child s painful world, so that you will be able to reach them in a profound, meaningful and potentially life-saving way.

Diana was an unseen child. She was one of six unseen children in her family. This book tells of the unspeakable crimes perpetuated upon her and her siblings because no one saw them - and no one heard these children cry out. Diana has taken her mission in life from these experiences, dedicating her life to helping the unseen children of today. She has successfully raised her own children, raised adopted children and raised foster children. Now, she is focused on all the other unseen children and is willing to do even more for them, but she is only one person and there is an amazing amount of work to be done. By writing her story, Diana is empowering society to recognize these children. She knows once you truly see them, you too will be inspired to help them to become seen by all, to get help, to heal and most importantly, to be sure they will be able to break the cycle of abuse.Review:
To know Diana Joy is to now a pure faith and a hope that defies human understanding. Being a part of her life is a privilege; walking beside her has increased my faith and belief in the resiliency of the human soul. It is moving to read Diana Joy s story and to know that others will be touched by reading it too. --Cindy Smith, LCSW
Looking through the Eyes of an Unseen Child is an extremely powerful book, helping to liberate the coversation and understanding of Multiple Personalities Disorder (MPD), but more importantly, to remind us that there are thousands of Unseen Children walking amongst us who deserve acknowledgement. --Michelle Fraas, MSW
Diana Joy is a hero. She is a woman of enormous personal courage who found the strength to face her disastrous childhood and pull from it the very best lessons of living; love, compassion and forgiveness. This is a tough story to tell and a tough story to read. Based on her own truths, Diana Joy continues to teach us all and, like so many heroes, I am grateful for this lesson. --Dr. Leslie A.
