When someone steals the prize buckle of a junior bull-riding champion, amateur sleuth Kirsten Camarata sets her mind to solving the mystery. She takes part in a rodeo in order to get behind the scenes, and even though someone goes to extreme measures to prevent her from doing so, her detective skills pay off as she pieces together the clues to solve the mystery.

Claudia Cangilla McAdam, author of Riddle at the Rodeo, knew at age ten that she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. As a child, she would do her chores on Saturday mornings with a book in hand (usually a Nancy Drew mystery). It was easy to multi-task if she was running the vacuum cleaner; not so easy if she was ironing or mowing the lawn. Growing up in Colorado within earshot of her county's fairgrounds, Claudia could hear the rodeo announcers voice traveling through the thin atmosphere on summer nights. It was the start of her fascination with the sport. Today, Claudia is an award-winning children's author who still lives in Colorado, who still reads mysteries, and who still enjoys the rodeo. It seems only natural that she'd write a book combining those ingredients.
