Frank Hotchkiss was born in 1925, grew up on Chicago's North Shore and in southern Wisconsin. He served in the AAF during WW II. After a stint as a ski bum on Mt. After graduate studies at MIT he started his career in architecture and urban planning in Chicago, eventually moving to Los Angeles in 1953. He worked on numerous large-scale community plans in the private sector and also taught at USC before joining the Southern CA Assoc. of Gov. (SCAG) where he became director of Planning for the So. CA Region. After moving to Orange County in 1989 he taught at UC Irvine for a number of years. After taking poetry classes at CSU Long Beach, he was inspired to put this collection together. Outdoor activities have played a major role in his life, including skiing, surfing, biking, hiking, running, sailing, and now paddle boarding so nature is a major theme in his poetry, which also relates to his interest in spirituality.
