"Unlike many career success books that offer big-ideas but no direction on how to implement them, From Dorm Room to the Boardroom provides step by step actions to implement. Mark Homer pulls no punches in uncovering the attitudes and habits that new hires often fall into their first few years. Follow Mark's steps to avoid these habits and put yourself on the fast track at your company."
Glen Garvin
General Manager, Dominion Enterprises

"From the Dorm Room to the Boardroom provides specific actions to implement. Mark Homer uncovers the habits that graduates fall into their first few years. All recent graduates should follow Mark's steps to avoid these habits and set themselves up for success at your company."
Reid Downey

"I had the benefit of learning directly from Mark Homer in my first job. He was my first mentor and remains someone I reach out to advice for today. Now he has taken all the advice he gave me and put it into one book. I only wish I had a companion guide like this when I was mentored by Mark. Get this book, if the advice is only half as good as what I received it is better than anything else out there."
Isiah Xiong
Production Manager, eshots, inc.

"I recommend every new graduate pick up Mark Homer's book. He knows what he is talking about. Without Mark's mentoring I would not have moved to senior management so quickly. Mark is driven to see others succeed. He sees the potential in you and can provide the guidance necessary to jump start your career."
Joe Daleo
Senior Manager, leading marketing firm.

"Every college student should be given this book when they graduate. The chapter about networking alone will set you apart from your peers."
Brian

"I wish I had this book years ago. I have seen many new hires struggle in their first few years out of college, and sometimes never really making it in the business world. Mark provides the information that can help a college graduate really jumpstart their career. Read it, apply it, and succeed."
Mike
Manager at global consumer products company

ABOUT MARK HOMER

Mark Homer's mission is to help young professionals lay the foundation for a successful, prosperous, and rewarding career by learning the success habits of leading executives. Mark writes and speaks on career success. He is often asked to speak at colleges and corporations on the topic of transitioning from college to the business world.

Mark learned and practiced these ideas during 15 years as a leader and executive in the corporate world at both large companies like Ernst & Young and IBM and a few successful startups. As an executive, Mark created these steps as he mentored hundreds of new-hires making the transition from college to the business world.

Mark didn't learn these steps overnight. He came out of college and made most of the mistakes that the typical college graduate makes when starting their corporate career. However, one day two years into his stalling career as he began to feel mired in mediocrity he was involved and was fortunate enough to walk away from a plane crash.

This wake up call put things into perspective, Mark was not where he wanted to be in his life and career. He vowed to do whatever it took to change this. In under three years, Mark learned the key steps to make the transition from college student to corporate executive and was rewarded with promotions and raises.

Having been successful for 15 years in the corporate world, Mark continued to see other recent college graduates struggle with the same things coming out of college. He decided to take a sabbatical from his work as a corporate executive and share the steps he learned with other new college graduates and young professionals so they can jumpstart their corporate career.

While Mark can't recreate the adrenaline felt when plummeting over a 1000 feet down in a plane with a dead engine, he tries to come close and leave his readers and audiences with the intense energy to take action and incorporate his success steps into their life.

Although a big Chicago Cubs fan, he currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife Beth and two sons Jack and Ryan.
