Weeble has a secret so painful she's hiding it even from herself. At ten, she meets Lauren Case, a book-loving daydreamer who offers Weeble refuge from the everyday degradations of life in her poor Midwestern family. Weeble fiercely protects Lauren, just as she protects her sister Annie. But there are forces at work she can't withstand. When Richard Lee Grady arrives in town, he rips lives apart, including Weeble's. Four years after college, Weeble has a new life, new friends, and the potential for love -- if she can only admit what happened one hot July day in 1982.
SAINT SEBASTIAN'S HEAD is a dark and riveting journey into the human heart, where fairy tales and incest, angels and demons, magical thinking and guilt, haunt one incredibly resilient woman.

Saint Sebastian's Head defies description in many ways. Weeble's story, extremely challenging to write, crosses the borders between literary, psychological suspense, and romance with a sprinkling of what one reviewer describes as "paranormal," but I might use the terms magical realism or fantasy. As an author, I put Weeble, my young female narrator, through a lot, and then tried my best to bring her hope and healing. As I wrote, I let Weeble's voice speak through me -- I felt like a spiritual medium! She's honest to a point, but she spends a long time circling around the heart of her story, which she thinks is one thing and we as readers (hopefully) realize that it's another. I don't expect her story to touch every reader, but some of the responses I've gotten have been highly gratifying.About the Author:
LeAnn Neal Reilly graduated with a master's degree in professional writing from Carnegie Mellon University. The Midwest Book Review described her first novel, The Mermaid's Pendant as a "beautifully crafted fantasy that shows much symbolism and wisdom." She lives outside Boston.
