The Political Optimist: The Restoration of Common Consent

9780982731321: The Political Optimist: The Restoration of Common Consent

Today we use the distance of success to magically detach us from the burdens and disagreements others carry. This is opposite the leader who carries those burdens and openly stands to be questioned. At every turn, political optimists produce top-down, centrally controlled organizations with no access to rise against their authority. This model places leadership at a greater distance from a genuine democracy of dissent. Written for those who struggle with political people, you will love The Political Optimist. It promotes the safeguards of “being real” as a counter measure to “being political.” It teaches how we must stand to be corrected while still questioning authority. If you want to know the difference between political people and genuine optimists, this book explains it all. The answer requires that we give relational thinking equal footing to the linear mind. This will undoubtedly challenge central power structures everywhere. It will also change everything we have been taught about leadership. The solution to a political world is nothing new but something lost. The Political Optimist highlights our lost humanity for optimism and calls for a return to the oral traditions of common consent, often referred to in this book as ideal consent.
