Barbara Verkuilen has been a Zen practitioner since 1971. She practiced with a number of Japanese pioneer priests as well as accomplished American teachers. She was ordained a priest in the Soto Zen tradition in 1997, and co-founded with her husband Dale the Midwest Soto Zen Community based in Madison Wisconsin in 2001.
