Legends of dragons are found in many countries throughout the world. The Dragon Princess is the first of a series of dragon tales based on these legends. The story takes place in a small village in China, hundreds of years ago. It centers around a young girl, sixteen years of age, that is chosen to represent her village as the new Dragon Princess. As the Dragon Princess, however, she must serve the dragon family for twenty years. Through her great wit, and desire to return to the young man that she loves, she finds a way to shorten her years of service and accomplish many wonderful things. The book is fully illustrated and some of the pictures have hidden things that the reader must search to find in them.

The author, Carol Hill, is a professional artist and has illustrated and written several books for children. Carol was born in San Francisco, California. She attended the University of California at Davis, The San Francisco Art Institute, and graduated from San Diego State University. The We Go To School program, published by Addison Wesley, was her first published illustration work. Since then she has written and illustrated several books with DVDs in sign language for the deaf. The first one, published by Coloring Arts, is My Sunday School Coloring Book.
