INCAPITATED is a hauntingly seductive debut novel that takes an unflinching look at the journey of a beautiful and savvy young woman who is sexually abused and emotionally manipulated by a worldly and mysterious New York bon vivant who sweeps her into roller-coaster world of luxury, abandonment, self-indulgence and sexual perversion. Initially seduced by Mitchell's wealth and power - private jets, spur-of-the-moment trips to the pleasure capital of Europe, designer clothes, 40-course meals at the finest restaurants - the popular Ivy League graduate falls prey to the older man's perverted passions and his need for domination. By praising her one moment and demeaning her or physically abusing her the next moment, he systematically strips away her confidence and replaces it with fear. In her darkest moments, the young woman not only solicits other women for sex acts that Mitchell has scripted, she also subjects the women to the same kind of emotional abuse she has suffered. The once popular and independent young woman stumbles through the nightmare that has become her life until a shattering betrayal, this time by her parents and a trusted childhood friend, awakens in her the desire to reclaim control of her life. Her path to salvation is filled with uncertainty, guided by hope.

"Dahab is fearless as a writer, and she skillfully navigates the fine line between pornography and art. To read her story is to catch a glimpse of a rare bird. Her wry sense of humor and poetically precise phrasing give voice to experiences, disturbing and sensual, that others have no words for. Her descriptions of the sights and smells of some of the world's greatest cities, including the sumptuous meals that she and Mitchell share, seduce the reader into wanting to experience more, even as her relationship with Mitchell becomes darker and more twisted." -- Maria Housden, bestselling author of Hannah's Gift: Lessons from a Life Fully Lived"About the Author:
Evelyn C. Dahab lives in New York City's vibrant East Village after 8 years of living alone on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Born and raised on the south shore of Long Island, she left home at the age of fifteen to live for a year as an exchange student in Ecuador. Upon returning to the United States, she spent a year reorienting to American culture and language before heading to university at the age of seventeen. Her experiences in Ecuador inspired her field of study, and she graduated in 2002 from Columbia University's Barnard College with a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Third World Political Development.
Since graduation, Ms. Dahab's career has exposed her to many life experiences, perspectives, and disciplines. She has worked as a nanny, personal trainer, fitness model, hedge fund administrator, legal recruiter, financial news show anchorwoman, wine and food critic and consultant under the moniker "oenogal," and actress with a walk-on role on the CBS soap opera The Guiding Light. Her real passion, though, is travel, and her passport, nearly in tatters, reflects a life on the move. INCAPITATED is her first book, which she hopes will serve as a revealing commentary on the human experience while casting a dark shadow on the pursuit of sex, power, money, and control.
