The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Understanding Support Employees is the story of a fed-up administrative assistant. On the day she resigns, she gives her manager a memo detailing what she believes is management’s contribution to the grief of her position. She insists she is not bitter, but she probably shouldn’t be the judge. The beauty of this book is you don't have to hold a support position to relate to the main character. She represents every non-managerial employee in any office - whether it's a government office, private industry, doctor, dentist, law... Everyone who works in an office has (or has had) a boss or coworker they want to tell to go to hell sometimes. Everyone who works in an office has (or has had) an unfavorable opinion about their boss and the double standards, stupid questions, office pets and other frustrations that come with the office. That is why this book is also a good read for office managers and executives. Rarely do they get an opportunity (or seek the opportunity) to hear just what their employees think of them. They can find now...if they dare! This character's adventures won't shock you and this book certainly won't change anything. But at least in the meantime, it will make you laugh!

Leslie Lewis is a 1998 graduate of Frostburg State University with a bachelor of science in English and a minor in writing. For 13 years, she held a number of support positions, including receptionist, secretary, and administrative and executive assistant. After working with different offices and organizations, Leslie found that “the business” might have changed, but how support employees were treated never changed. Though she is now a technical writer-editor for the federal government (ironically in the Technical and Administrative Support Branch), she maintains her heart will always belong with support employees. Leslie resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland with her husband of six years and two small children—a son, age 5, and a daughter, age 2. Her guilty pleasures include reality television and Pepsi.
