Agnes M. Schwartz, born in 1933, Budapest, Hungary, immigrated to the United States in 1947. After raising three children and retiring from a law office career, she became involved with the Holocaust Memorial Foundation of Illinois, now known as the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. As a member of the Museum's Speakers Bureau, she tells her story of survival and the war's far-reaching effects on her life to audiences large and small. Her aim is to keep the Holocaust from becoming just another
page in a history book.
Since her retirement, she has turned to writing stories, based mostly on her life experiences. In May 1999, her article, Why We Must Stop Milosevic/Is Kosovo Another Holocaust, appeared in the Chicago Sunday Sun-Times, Chicago Jewish News, and the Jewish United Fund's monthly magazine. Other publications: Chicago Jewish News,
September 2001, Letting Hitler Win; Chicago Jewish News, September 2003, A Very Special Reunion; Chicago Sun Times, April 2007, Laws on Mentally Ill Endanger The Rest Of Us; Skokie Review, August 2007, Shining Stars; Skokie Review, May 2008, A Time For Forgiveness.
