In AIR SWIMMER, Robert W. Kimsey seems to recall the past from the viewpoint of an older soul. From the coal mines of Kentucky to places of quiet reflection, he deals with human relationships and the survival of the spirit, with abuse and family violence, with love and the lack of love--all crafted with a questioning but abiding faith. The poems fit together like the pieces of a life whose voice is seldom raised but can be clearly heard. Here is an Appalachian poet whose wisdom merits our attention. --Robert S. King, author of THE HUNTED RIVER and THE GRAVEDIGGER’S ROOTS
