Ulf Lidbeck belongs to a family with an old tradition of story telling. His father’s grandfather and his mother’s brothers, her father and grandfather were old salts, captains on full riggers or steamers traveling all over the world. They had seen and heard a lot. Family gatherings were exciting. Stories and adventures from four oceans and six continents were told, improved upon and retold. Brilliant lies with a base in reality. “This is a mix of family stories and my own exciting experiences during a long, eventful life where I met many remarkable personalities, rich and poor, smart and stupid, nice and wicked. Like my forefathers I have a desire to share memorable and remarkable experiences and entertaining stories, which are a pleasure to tell, to read, and listen to.”

Ulf Lidbeck was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. After a business education and military service (as a dog trainer), he was educated in advertising and marketing in Switzerland and France. He had a successful advertising agency and with his fashion designer wife, Liss, he opened stores in Sweden, Germany, and the US. In 1980, he moved to the US. In 2002, he published the thriller “SnakeDance,” a partly true story about brave, socially responsible women cheating cocaine dealers, stealing their drugs and money — now in a second edition, and like these short stories, in English and in Swedish.
