William J. Tasker was born in Bergenfield, New Jersey but by 1975 was living in New Hampshire. After spending many years in a factory setting, Tasker felt it was a good idea to get an education and upon moving to Aroostook County in 1990, went to the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
During his education and thereafter, Tasker was fortunate enough to be on the ground floor of a new software company, then based in Washburn. From the early days with a desk consisting of a door on six milk crates, Tasker helped oversee dynamic expansion of that company as it grew into a $40 million a year enterprise. Tasker left the company when it was purchased by CCH.
Tasker s next adventure is his publishing business along with his writing. The Pioneer Homes of Woodland is his sixth in the Pioneer Homes series and his tenth book in publication. A former University of Maine System Writer of the Year, Tasker enjoys not only writing and exploring, but also in making the dreams come true of local authors and illustrators that have been published by his company. Those dreams also include a quickly growing business in the on-demand market and his company has printed many books, calendars and other materials for people locally and as far away as Florida.
Tasker lives in Caribou with his wife. He has two children, Bill and Shaina, who live in Perham, and two step-children who live in Illinois. Tasker is especially fond of his Llapso Apso named Gizmo. Whenever he gets a chance, Tasker also loves golf, writing about baseball and the flowers in his garden.
