About the Author:
The Clever Cleaver Brothers are Steve Cassarino and Lee N. Gerovitz, professional chefs who turned their love for food and laughter into a unique career as media personalities, cookbook authors, and, as one pundit called them, "stand-up chefs." Steve and Lee graduated from Johnson & Wales University School of Culinary Arts. Steve continued his culinary education while studying under the great chefs of Europe at schools in London and La Varenne in Paris. He then worked as a chef on a private Monte Carlo yacht and at Australia's Hotel Melbourne. After receiving a B.S. in Hotel-Restaurant Management from Florida International University, Lee worked for Foodmaker as Manager of Recipe Development and for Jack in the Box, where his team developed such hits as the Pita Pocket Supreme, Pizza Pocket and Pasta Seafood Salad. Although Steve and Lee had not seen each other since graduation, their paths unexpectedly crossed in the early 80's when they were each jogging on the beach in San Diego. Over lunch at a boardwalk burger joint, they decided to team up to create a video cookbook for beginners. Although they had no on-camera or production experience, their video was an overnight success, which generated not only publicity and sales, but also their own local weekly television series. Soon, they were appearing on national television shows, serving as spokespersons for national food manufacturers and providing consulting services to the restaurant industry. They created the BK Broiler for Burger King, a line of chicken sandwiches for Carl's Jr., specialty sundaes for Haagen-Dazs and multiple products for Crystals. Their most recent R&D project resulted in the creation of their signature line of seasoning blends from The Clever Cleaver Kitchen for Red Monkey Foods. For more than two decades, these culinary cut-ups have been regulars on the TV guest circuit with appearances on "The Tonight Show," "The View," "Live! with Regis," "Fox & Friends," "Entertainment Tonight" and many other network shows. They are the authors of "Cookin' With The Cleavers" (Wynwood Press) and "The Great Recession Recipe Book" (CFBP Bestsellers). Their original TV cooking programs have been broadcast in five languages in more than 50 countries. Plus, Steve and Lee take their Vegas-style cooking show on the road performing at casinos, conventions, fairs, festivals and theatres. Viva la Cleaver!
