Michael Hicks Thompson—Christian Fiction With Theology
After earning a masters degree in mass communication from the University of South Carolina, Michael started a one-man ad agency. It grew to 87 employees in two cities, winning numerous national and international creative awards. Michael sold his firm in 2011 and turned his attention to full-time Christian fiction writing. He has written six novels. His latest novel is The Rector.
Michael was born in his mother’s own bed. He grew up in a Mississippi town of 310 souls. He knows a thing or two about strong Christian women, alcoholic men, and Jesus. He and his wife of 44 years live in Memphis, TN, have three sons and four grandchildren. The little ones call him Big Mike.
He’s a member of the ACFW, Mystery Writers of America, The International Crime Writers Association, and the Southern Writers Association. Michael Thompson received his master s degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. He founded an ad agency in 1977 that grew into a multi-city, multi-service marketing organization. He was chairman and chief creative officer. He sold the firm in 2011. Born and raised on a small farm in Mississippi, he has lived in Memphis for 40 years. Married for 44 years, with 3 sons. Michael has written movie scripts, is a self-taught artist, an offshore sailor, and occasional golfer. He is a 35-year member of Independent Presbyterian Church in Memphis. For 3 years his quest was the DAVID series, initiated by a desire to understand why God said David was a man after His own heart.
