Ivey Thornton is a strong-willed girl, struggling to find her purpose in the world of Aether. Having come of age, Ivey grudgingly agrees to travel to the estate of a reclusive young inventor, Miles Fenchurche, to see if they can find happiness in a proper marriage. Ivey plans to sabotage her engagement so she can follow in her father's footsteps, but she's not the only one to board the airship Monarch with a devious agenda. Upon discovering that she is destined to either save Aether or send it spiraling into oblivion, Ivey finally looks to Miles for help, and their relationship takes an unexpected turn.

Ivey and the Airship tells the story of a spirited girl (think Scarlett O'Hara with an airship) who faces life as a misfit in her world until she learns that lasting friendships can be built on mutual trust and respect.
I first imagined Ivey's adventure as a screenplay, but knowing how expensive itwould be to get an airship the size of the Queen Mary off the ground, I opted to start with a novel and let nature take its course. It wasn't long before the plot outgrew a single book, and Ivey and the Airship became book one of Aether's Edge--a five book series that chronicles Ivey and company's battles to help their world escape a tragic fate.
Although the book is defined as a sci-fi/fantasy, it also fits the genre of steampunk. I've always been a huge fan of Jules Vern, H. G.Wells, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, so the mixing of Victorian culture with science fiction came naturally to me.
Cheryl Ammeter was born on a dairy farm in Iowa and currently lives in Dallas, Texas with a brilliant husband, two gifted children, three miscreant cats, and Oscar the wonder pup. She is best known as an award-winning scriptwriter for over seven seasons of the globally acclaimed children's program, Barney & Friends. At Radio Disney, she wrote and performed in a wide variety of Disney features including Generation Girl Theatre, an adaptation of Barbie® books into a series of episodic radio plays for Mattel and Golden Books. After years of adhering to production budgets and schedules, her larger-than-life imagination has finally been set free in the world of sci-fi paranormal romance. Ivey and the Airship is the first in five book series called Aether's Edge. Cheryl is currently at work on book two, Master of the Manor.
