9780985622725: Farnsworth's Revenge

Rollo Hemphill has a history with a life-sized rubber doll he dressed up to look like glamorous Hollywood star Monica LaMonica. For a time, the doll's worldwide travels provided convenient cover and sensational press for her living counterpart. But now, rubber-Monica has disappeared from crusty Hugo Farnsworth's yacht in St. Tropez. Like it or (mostly) not, Rollo gets drafted as an unofficial government operative to deal with the kidnappers. The doll has become a pawn in an international game centered on an eccentric Turk who collects lookalikes - but who may have also collected state secrets, including the plans for cold fusion and a scheme for bankrupting the world's money supply. All Rollo wants to do is get safely home to his estranged wife Felicia - who now happens to be pregnant. Is the child his? If not, will Rollo be bold enough to risk everything for a real life with a real woman? Once again, Rollo will prove that the male ego is as vulnerable as it is predictably deflatable.

From the Author:

When I was in high school, my chemistry teacher approached me and asked with a sly grin, "You interested in mining?"
I told him absolutely not. I was going to be a writer.
Little did I suspect that he wanted to send me to a student conference on metallurgy where I could seek the fellowship of like-minded teens on a minimally supervised road-trip to the Big City.
Undeterred by my abrupt negative response, he grumbled, "Well, you're interested in mining your own business, aren't you?"
And he sent me anyway.
Now I realize I should've listened more carefully to everything he said.

From the Inside Flap:

Youthful hacker-turned-slacker Rollo Hemphill can't help failing ever upward in a series of comic misadventures. In the first book, My Inflatable Friend, he devises a screwball scheme with a life-sized rubber doll to make his girlfriend jealous and stumbles into a gig on shock-jock radio. In Rubber Babes, when he thinks he's landed a cushy job heading up a Hollywood charity, he ends up running from the Feds. Farnsworth's Revenge finds him on the lam in Europe, where he gets recruited for a secret government operation that will either solve the energy crisis or destroy the worldwide banking system. The painful consequences of Rollo's concocted schemes show us all too vividly the perils of pretending to be someone you're not--and the hazards of stroking every male's most vulnerable part -- his swelling ego.
