Sherry Blackman is an internationally published writer, poet and journalist whose work has taken her to over 30 countries and has appeared in dozens of national and international publications, including The Christian Science Monitor, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Star Ledger, and The World & I Magazine. In 2007, she was ordained with the Presbyterian Church USA, and today she is the pastor of two churches, the founder of Writing for Revelation Workshops, and a truck stop chaplain.

Review:

...the author relates this confrontational legal battle with a keen sense of drama.... A sometimes flawed narrative that will yet engage the reader in a David-and-Goliath story pitting one brave woman against a corporate giant. --Kirkus Review

This is a true story about Jane Gagliardo and her former employer, Connaught Laboratories, as written by journalist Sherry Blackman. Gagliardo vs. Connaught Laboratories was a landmark case that further defined the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990). The book is a most compelling read in that it tells the very human side of disability, including the fact that the disabled do not always see themselves that way. The book contains interesting and informative transcripts of the trial that allow the reader to judge for him- or herself what the outcome will be. --N.K. Deisroth

Call to Witness by Sherry Blackman is a well written book about Jane Gagliardo who had the strength of character and determination of trying to right a wrong when she was fired from Connaught Laboraties. As a person who has worked in Corporate America and has seen and experienced the indifference of employers in the workplace, this relates to more than a person treated unjustly because of the handicap of MS. It speaks to all those who have been mishandled in the corporate world. More than a person with a visible handicap can relate to this story, of the exagerrations and lies, told in order to justify the bottom line. I found it difficult to put the book down. Jane is to be praised for her determined spirit when it would have been so easy to quit. She is definately a great example of one person who made a difference! --Donna Gillhaus
