This book is also available on Amazon Europe (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it, and Amazon.es.)
English:
This book begins with an informal interview of Professor TRAN NGOC NINH by TRAN UYEN THI, a student and collaborator of his, who tried to sharpen and discuss the many strands of his original researches on Vietnamese culture and civilization, particularly on mythology, linguistics and literature. At the same time, the interview offers a clear and accessible introduction to his work and thought. This is followed by a selection of Prof. Tran’s essential writings and lectures, some unpublished and some old, but tacitly suppressed in present Vietnam. These writings, although destined to a general audience, are more incisive and academic, and may help the interested readers to a critical knowledge and evaluation of his theorizing. Last but not least, there are included some impressionistic essays mostly by Prof. Tran’s current students in linguistics.
The book is essential reading for all students and researchers involved in the study of culture, mythology and linguistics. It offers Prof. Tran’s innovative yet humanistic ideas and scientific methodology which potentially shed a new light on some of the key challenges that the Vietnamese culture is facing today, hence the title “A Dream for Vietnam.”
The book is in Vietnamese, with an essay in French ("TERRES SEREINES ET NOURRITURES TERRESTRES").
