Chip Cohen has been fiddling for audiences across the United States since the 1970s. After studying classical violin as a youth in Maryland, he traveled to the Great Smokey Mountains, where he became immersed in bluegrass and old-time fiddling. He's been fiddling ever since, playing everything from bluegrass to rock and roll to mariachi. Among the many musicians he has worked with over the years are the Holy Modal Rounders, the Johnson Mountain Boys, Ferlin Huskey, and Michelle Shocked. An Oregonian since 1984, Chip currently performs around the Northwest as a soloist on fiddle and classical guitar, and with, among others, western swing band the Texas Toasters, klezmer band the Klezmonauts, and bluegrass band Rusty Still. His solo CD, "Horsehair", was hailed by the Eugene Weekly as a "musical masterpiece".
