Lydia Kaufmann was born in East Germany (now Russia). She spent her teen years in Switzerland and Austria. Lydia immigrated to Canada in 1963. After living in her new country for 5 years she met her husband, a widower with three children. In 1971 their final child was born. Lydia has worked at a variety of jobs including Residential Homes and Hospitals. Lydia spent most of her employed life as an entrepreneur and owned and operated two modest motels in Southwestern Ontario. Lydia is a grandmother of three and resides with her husband Gerhard in the Hamlet of Dealtown in Southwestern Ontario. She spends her days gardening, canning and writing Children's stories.
Janet Forsyth is an established artist and author in Southwestern Ontario. She has studied at Windsor University Fine Arts, Doon School of Fine Arts, etching courses in England and The Institute for Children's Literature. She is honoured to be chosen to illustrate this children's story by Lydia.
