The series of short stories gathered in Hamed Abawi's book takes you through a journey paved with his daily experiences. I would like to make it clear that the stories and events related in this book are my own, and come directly from my own experiences. (Names have been changed to respect the privacy and anonymity of individuals). Addiction is a serious problem and the use of drugs and alcohol is something I am not trying to glorify or recommend to anyone. This is simply my story. I would also like to point out that I come from a wonderful and highly regarded family. The events and actions depicted in this book are my own and are not meant to shame or cast my loved ones in any particular light. This sentiment goes for the Afghani people as well a immigrants of all nationalities who come to this country in hopes of a better life. Taxi drivers are some of the hardest and most honest working people I know. It should be noted that my experiences and lifestyle are no representative of every cab driver and should not be used as a character reference for anyone but me. I claim full responsibility for my actions.
