The content of this book is questions and answers, designed mostly for the use of ESL learners practicing in pairs, to ask questions and give the answers for material in the IGCSE Maths, Physics and Chemistry courses. These questions and answers almost always have only one answer provided per question, usually intended to have the best combination of succinctness, exactness, clarity, vernacularity and efficiency. Some answers are inherently long enough to be difficult to reproduce from memory in practice, and later in life on demand, and would be even for the majority of English native speakers. There are a few two-part and three-part question and answers.The great use of comas reflects the fact, that, especially in the ESL context, in these topics, more pauses are generally required, to sufficiently signify the separations between the components talked about, as well as to allow a little more time for the following (understanding) of the verbal description. Only with the attainment of sufficient proficiency should some of the pauses indicated by the comas be omitted, for more capable recipients. The smaller extra sections on medical physiology, nutrition, and psychology have different structures and registers. The section on medical physiology has questions about the organ systems, with answers of increasing scientific sophistication and difficulty.The section on nutrition includes long complicated sentences in a very academic register, that most students might only use to practice listening to and reading complicated science, and as examples for future writing, but the subject matter is generally important knowledge, hence the inclusion here, as well as for the reading of, and listening to for understanding, more complicated scientific English.The section on psychology is also on important subject matter, and includes answers for the psychological defence mechanisms that an average student could learn to reproduce from memory, and generally fairly simple dot-pointed sentence abbreviations for characteristics of the different psychological personality disorders, suited for learning, and being able to describe in understandable verbal point form, the psychological personality disorders.
