Three young people, children really, have their lives, hopes and loves uprooted by religious terrorists. They have to survive the jungles of the Philippines, or go to foster care.
They chose to change the world, but in order to do that, first they had to survive not only the jungles of plants and animals, but far greater dangers loomed in the jungles of the grown-up world. They barely survive the terrorists, the political authorities, and other grown-ups with soul cancer. Even in Detroit, oh how terrible, they survived but only just...

I write about religion and spirituality for grown-ups because I must, it is my calling. I write for children because I love it, it feeds my soul.
CSCi (Cure Soul Cancer International) is not for the faint of heart, therefore it is not recommended reading for most adults. Kids have the power of imagination, conviction, courage, intuition, heroism and depth of soul to deal with the moral dilemmas, ethical conundrums and awful truths of our world, but adults...well...the ones with soul cancer...they cause most of the stuff (you see, I didn't say crap because its not nice) that kids have to face.
Life is full of dichotomies and other unpronounceable silliness, some of it lethal not only to body, but also to soul. For some kids, like Achira, Ava and Anming, whether unpronounceable, devastating or not--they deal with it in their way.
Achira (a Hindu-Filipino girl of eight), Ava (an American girl of twelve) and Anming (A Chinese boy of fifteen) live in the Philippines where their parents teach at a school in a politically unstable area.
The Moro Islamic Freedom Front [MILF] commits unspeakable horrors (which one should not speak of in polite conversation, yet we do) that devastates the lives of these young people.
Rather than be sent to foster care or Government agencies, our heroes vow to search out the one person who can teach them how to cure the Soul Cancer that makes grownups do the terrible things they do.
To find this special person, they have to make their way to Detroit, USA, on the other side of the world. However, the authorities won't have that, and the chase is on...
All they have to go by to survive, are those special skills that only tweens and teens can master: a flair for the supernatural, help from their angels, and heroic resolve, courage, wit, con, cunning, scheming, and beauty of soul.
Cure Soul Cancer International (CSCi) is a travel adventure series that visits exotic countries, where our heroes come face to face with cultural differences, stupid politics, moral dilemmas and real life atrocities that grownups commit.
Their quest to find a cure for soul cancer has so far taken them from the Philippines to the USA (volume 1), to Canada (volume 2) and Cambodia (volume 3) and to... No, we wont tell...don't want to alert the authorities. All we can say is that they eat a lot of curry in that country which gives Anming gas, and Ava has not yet learned to use the washroom in places where they do not believe in toilet paper.
