James Roby III was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan He earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree from Central Michigan University. He served as an Air Force officer for over 10 years. During that time, he served primarily in Air Force Space Command where he controlled intercontinental missiles and satellites. He was responsible for training hundreds of officer candidates. He has written and published three novels chronicling the adventures of the UrbanKnights.
