"We suck. We are a bunch of liars. And we are going to lay off a lot of people."
At once hilarious and tragic, set in Silicon Valley but devoid of jargon, Closure of the Helpdesk is a story of how America's workforce slipped from "nothing but the best" to "everyday low wages" right before our eyes, in one short decade. Put simply, Closure of the Helpdesk is a mirror to life if you are a geek--or a window to it if you are not.

Chapter titles include Donuts Beat People, The Slave Club and SEC, Lies and Financial Results.  Yes, this is where Wall Street meets Microserfs.  Pick up a copy today and prepare to be entertained!
"That's the problem with any 'simple truth'--in the end it always takes a gaggle of complete idiots or a team of all-knowing geniuses to miss it."

From the Author:

"You still don't get it, do you? The villains of our time are a new creed. There are thousands and thousands of them all over the place. But we never get to face them. We never get to talk to them. We never get to question them. And yet, what they do behind closed doors affects our lives in more ways than we can possibly imagine..."

Gone are the good old days when the number-crunching villains openly told us what they were all about, you know, that bit about greed being good.  Times have changed a lot since then, and I don't mean for the better.

My debut novel Closure of the Helpdesk is a tragi-comic story of what happened to Silicon Valley (and by extension to the American workplace) through the last decade. Set against a "business backdrop" but accessible to all curious minds, this is a story of the young protagonist's struggles and setbacks; and at the same time it is a story of greed and office politics as personified by George -- the scheming, number-crunching CFO.

If you have been following the business / technology headlines through the last decade and ever wondered what really happened, this is the book to read. Put simply, Closure of the Helpdesk is a mirror to life if you are a geek -- or a window to it if you are not.

From the Back Cover:

"Funny, I never thought you guys had anything like a graveyard shift."
"We don't," Sam said.  "We just call it the workday."

Sam joins Bodega InfoTech around the turn of century--at a time when America led the world, people valued their work and people were valued at work.  He is willing to sacrifice every waking moment of his life--and any hopes of a personal life--in his quest to "change the world," one buggy line of code at a time.  And Bodega supports Sam and friends every step of the way--not just tech-support but their lunch, dinner and even their laundry.

But when things don't progress as everyone had hoped and Bodega's future (and Sam's own) hangs in the balance, Sam has to find out who he is and what really matters.  Could it be that George--Bodega's scheming, number-crunching CFO--was right all along?  Are cold numbers more important than the hottest new ideas?  Do dreams have a place amid a shaky economy and an uncertain future?

Sam s life revolves around two things: writing code and drinking beer. And his friends -- Jen the smarty-pants, Kris the immigrant and Vick the wisecracker -- are only marginally better. But then, they work for a hot startup in Silicon Valley and they are willing to give up any hopes of a personal life for the chance to change the world, one buggy piece of code at a time. And Sam has a plan. But Sam is up against George the CFO, though he doesn t know it yet. The scheming number-cruncher upstairs, who in his own words never loses time in sending the scapegoat to the slaughter-house, has a plan of his own. Both Sam and George now have to navigate the world in their own ways while the most promising project quickly fizzles out, the funding dries up, the clients walk away and nobody knows what s coming next.
