Nonni and his younger brother Manni are Icelandic boys who live in the charming town of Akureyri which sits by the Eyjafjörður Fjord in northern Iceland. Nonni is curious about many things yet forgetful of his parents' warnings, while Manni is quite innocent and pure of heart and loyal toward Nonni. Thinking he can lure the fish out of the sea with his magic flute playing Nonni, with trusting Manni at his side, sets out upon the Eyjafjörður Fjord in a small row boat in order to try. Great adventures follow in this classic and true story of virtue and vocation. Written by Iceland's first Jesuit priest this book features an extensive "About the Author" section. Pacific Book Review's "Best Children's Book" of 2014! Original cover art and illustrations. Published in large print (www.c2op.com).

About the Author:

This thrilling story "Lost in the Fjord" was written by the famous Icelandic author of children's books and Jesuit Jon Sveinsson. He was born on November 16, 1857, at a farmstead in North Iceland. When he was a boy his nickname was "Nonni" and that is why the 12 books about his adventures and experiences are called the "Nonni books.” During the twentieth century readers of all ages throughout the world devoured the stories of his adventures and the Nonni books became bestsellers – published in approximately 40 languages. This is a new translation into English of the original German title "Nonni und Manni" ( originally in English "Lost in the Arctic" )which was written over one hundred years ago. It describes a dramatic event in the lives of two young Icelandic brothers. The action occurs in the large fjord next to the town of Akureyri in North Iceland. This event played a significant and life changing role in their future lives.

Book Description Chaos to Order Publishing. Paperback. Book Condition: New. Paperback. 133 pages. Christs mother Mary is perhaps the most misunderstood figure in the history and current practice of Christianity. This book seeks to clarify her nature and role by looking at four different perspectives. The Personal is told through the inspirational short story Twin Fates. The Historical looks at Marys influence down through the Christian age. The Scriptural is based upon John Henry Cardinal Newmans writings and examines Marys role purely in terms of the Bible. And The Spiritual details Marys role as Coredemptrix and the perennial truths of the spiritual life this role points to for us all. Here is a beautiful holistic work on Mary of literary, historic, and spiritual value. This item ships from multiple locations. Your book may arrive from Roseburg,OR, La Vergne,TN. Paperback.
