Part memoir, part parent advice and all inspiration, Lisa Graham Keegan describes the family life that led her to become one of the nation's best known education reformers. While her education work has taken her from neighborhoods to the campaign trail to White House conference rooms; she describes that work as secondary to her true passion of ensuring that individuals can become exactly who they were created to be.
With an engaging and personal style, Lisa shares her story of the family that inspires her, and of the happy and heart-splitting experiences common to many of us that only deepened her belief that we are here to serve each other by seeking the best that we can be.
For anybody traveling a road with children, and wanting to embrace every aspect of their life - accepting and challenging children with mental impairment, thriving through adoption, creating new and strong families after divorce or gratefully celebrating a child's LGBorT orientation - Lisa's surprising experiences and advice will make you laugh and inspire you at the same time.

Lisa Graham Keegan has a passion for family - her family and the families of those who strive for a better future for their children. Her refreshing approach to the issues of modern family is rooted in her belief that we have the family we are given and the family we build, and that all families exist to support the unique gifts and purposes of each member.
Lisa grew up in Arizona, riding horses and learning about life in a family steeped in commitment to service. Lisa's family has been involved in political and community leadership locally and nationally for generations. She was educated at Stanford University and Arizona State University, worked as a speech pathologist specializing in brain injury at the VA hospital, then ran for and was elected to the Arizona legislature and subsequently as Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction. Lisa has become a national authority on what is right and what is wrong with education in America, and has advised policy leaders at all levels.
In the course of her work, Lisa served on both of John McCain's presidential campaigns, leading his education policy team. She also worked on the George W. Bush transition team in 2000, and was interviewed by President-elect Bush to be his Secretary of Education before the president chose Roderick Paige to take the job - a choice Lisa heartily approved of.
She shares ownership in the Keegan Company with her husband John, a former military officer, civil engineer, legislator, mayor and judge. Lisa's work includes analyzing education policy, giving advice, writing and speaking; and her favorite work obsession is National School Choice Week. Lisa and John are also grateful members of the Episcopal diocese in Phoenix.
Her family life has been blessed with a close knit clan of children, stepchildren, children-in-law, grandchildren, former spouses, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends who come together to support each other as a family. The Keegans have five beautiful children, two children-in-law, two grandsons so far...and they are deeply proud of the contributions all of their children make to their own communities.
