About the Author:

Mara Kimowitz wore many hats before becoming a mother of two. At nineteen, Mara began dancing with the renowned Mark Morris Dance Group. She continued her professional dance career with several other companies including the Metropolitan Opera of NYC. A chronic injury forced Mara to rethink her career and led her to fitness. Mara is a NESTA Certifed Personal Trainer and studied perinatal fitness with leading professions including Julie Tupler, R.N. and Debbie Goodman, M.S.P.T. Drawing on her personal experience with pregnancy, childbirth and recovery as well as knowledge of Pilates, yoga, dance and private training, Mara has created an innovative and holistic approach to perinatal exercise that is tailored to each mom's unique intricacies and childbirth experience. Mara gained more then the recommended weight with two different pregnancies, one being high-risk, and breastfed both kids to at least ten months. By six-months postpartum, Mara was back in prenatal shape - both times! Through Lil' Bootie Guide - Postnatal Fitness for a New Mom, and workshops, Mara is able to provide other moms with the tools, techniques and exercises needed to be a Fit Mom.
