One of the most well-publicized reasons for the Soviets returning to the table for nuclear arms reduction talks was the idea of space being a weapons free global common. Today, space is indeed militarized, but not yet weaponized, and this distinction is based on the international limits set forth by the Outer Space Treaty of 1967. This book combines Richardson’s Arms Race Model with the Red Queen hypothesis to form a news arms race model, aimed at proving that space is on its way towards weaponization. The calculated trajectory is not based on popular notions of military advantage, economics, or politics, although these aspects are contributing factors, but on the fact that space will become weaponized because it must. Space weaponization is co-evolutionary, and these new models will test match-ups between the U.S., China, and Russia. The ensuing discussion will compare the results to the current space weaponization viewpoints of all three countries, the concepts of space deterrence, and validation methods.
