Aisha Lumumba was born in McDonough, Georgia. She is now a well-known artist in Atlanta and was interested in art at a very early age. She learned quilting by watching the elders in her childhood make quilts. Her first love was sewing and creating art projects with fabric which eventually led her to quilting. She then turned quilting into her major art form. She has 35 plus years of quilting experience. Ms. Lumumba is very prolific as a quilter, fiber artist and author. She is a member of the Brown Sugar Stitchers Quilt Guild, Black Art in America and African Americans for the Arts. Her quilts are owned by many people.
