Review:
We are left stunned by the harrowing truths revealed in Vietnam Voices. Authentic, honest, exquisitely spare, the 28 poems in this collection lead us to a more nuanced understanding of the irreparable harm done to the minds and souls of those who saw combat in the controversial Vietnam War, damage that could not be easily cast off and that has left its mark on our society and thus on each of us...the profoundly affecting stories draw us in and ultimately make us more aware of our own humanity. This is an important book. --Alexandrina Sergio
In a series of gripping vignettes, Lepore skillfully employs verse to convey the harsh realities of the Vietnam War as felt by those who fought it. There is no glory here only stark honesty. --James H. Hallas
This is brave and necessary work, as resonant with the issues that face our fighting men and women today as fifty years ago. --Christine Beck
