A Year on Martha's Vineyard takes a look at the island eight miles off the coast of Massachusetts through all seasons. The author is a conservationist with a keen knowledge of the Vineyard and life on it. He writes what it's like to ski to a snowy beach by the light of Orion or to be humbled by a paddle board on a warm July day. Because he is also a vital part of the community -- he and his wife are raising four children in a house down a long dirt road -- he knows the seasons of his friends and neighbors. Together, his love of nature and his love of life on the Vineyard have allowed him to write a charming, informative book about a year on an Island.
