It was the golden era of Husker football. The 1965 team under Coach Bob Devaney was undefeated in the regular season and went on to play against Alabama in the Orange Bowl. On that team were Lynn Senkbeil, LaVern Allers, Carel Stith, and Kaye Carstens, teammates and friends who shared the qualities of persistence and determination-and what were considered "girl's" names.
