David Beard recounts his ongoing love affair with French language, literature, and movies through a series of compelling encounters that begin with his childhood in the Australian Outback at the dawn of the 20th century. Crossing decades and several continents, David’s story reveals a deep affection for Francophone culture accompanied by humorous accounts of his frustration with his own academic limitations. Like all great travel stories, “A Life in French Words” is rich in observations of human foibles, only some of them the author's.
