About the Author:
Sokhom Prins was born in Cambodia in 1970. Her life was a struggle (through civil war, genocide, personal tragedy and cataclysmic family events), to survive miraculously, and then to tell her story. In 1993 she meets her Prince, finds love, travels the world, builds up a property empire in Australia – but becomes a victim of this country’s injustice, racists and shysters. ...................... Her memoir is based on her own life experiences. She achieved a Ph.D. from the University of Life! She had to write this book – it was an innocent promise she made to herself since the age of 5, because of what was happening to her, around her, and in the world. .................. It is also miraculous that she was able to write a substantial book at all in English (her second language), without any formal education (beyond high school in Cambodia). She had to learn English by herself, persevering for nearly 20 years. She never gave up! "Love of life" is her sacred philosophy. When she told white people that she is writing a book, they didn't believe her . .................. Australia is the last place where she wanted to start her writing career, but she was cornered by life. “Down under” is a fitting description of Australia: it does its best to keep non-whites (especially Asians), “down under”. Meantime she and her husband are still living in Australia, while she continues with her passion for writing, & developing "Prins Publishing House" . ...................... Her memoir is a springboard for a better world, to be achieved through writing the following books: (i) a political memoir/narrative, “Cry My Beloved Cambodia”; (ii) a cook book (focused on international cuisine); (iii) “Woman General” - about women empowerment; and (iv) “A Love Story; with more to come!
