A modern romance based on a "Who do you think you are?" style story worked around a collection of well-known historical characters and events. The story opens with a young Irish man Cornelius Conner (Con) searching to find his own identity and place in the world. His family boasts a small number of significant historical figures, distinguished by their independence of thought and determination to secure rights and liberty for their people. Con is frustrated with himself and resolves to understand the circumstances that produced his most famous ancestor the rebel and Napoleonic General Arthur O'Connor. Early on in his quest he meets an attractive post-graduate history student Elizabeth (Liz), who promises to help him and while she is a little older than Con their relationship quickly develops into something unique. This story takes the couple on an emotional journey from Ireland to France and, through their research back in time, to the period when Europe was firmly in the grip of Napoleon. Quite by accident they expose completely unexpected relationships and a conspiracy to ensure the downfall of the Emperor at the Battle of Waterloo. The couple's determination to complete their research is unwavering despite the obstacle of family reputation but will their love survive the journey?
